Animal Focused Alliance – Terms and Conditions of Membership

1. Membership Term and Payment

  • Membership to the Animal Focused Alliance is valid for 12 months from the date of approval and payment. 

  • Membership fees must be paid in full at the time of application and are non-refundable. 

  • Renewal reminders will be issued prior to the end of the membership term. Continued access to member benefits is dependent on timely renewal. 

2. Eligibility and Application

  • Membership is open to individuals and businesses operating within the pet care sector. 

  • Businesses requiring a licence under the Licensing of Activities Involving Animals Regulations must provide a valid licence number as part of their application. 

  • The Animal Focused Alliance reserves the right to refuse membership if the applicant does not meet the ethos or expectations of the organisation. 

3. Commitment to Welfare Standards

  • Members must actively promote animal welfare and operate in line with the Animal Focused Alliance Code of Conduct, which includes working towards the Five Domains Model of animal welfare. 

  • Members must demonstrate an understanding of animal needs, and recognise and respond appropriately to signs of stress, fear, or discomfort in animals. 

  • Members must not cause unnecessary stress while animals are under their responsibility.  

4. Grounds for Termination

  • The Animal Focused Alliance reserves the right to terminate membership, without refund, where: 

  • There is evidence of poor welfare practices. 

  • The member breaches the Code of Conduct or these Terms and Conditions. 

  • A substantiated complaint is upheld by the Alliance following a review. 

  • In the event of termination, the member must cease using any Alliance branding, including logos, window decals, and promotional materials, with immediate effect. 

5. Use of Branding

  • Members are granted permission to display the Alliance’s digital logo and window decal for the duration of their valid membership only. 

  • Use of Alliance branding must not be misleading or imply approval beyond what has been granted. 

6. Member Benefits

  • Members will receive access to sector updates, expert webinars, training discounts, and  advice (where applicable). 

  • These benefits are subject to change and availability. The Alliance will notify members of any significant changes to services or access. 

7. Data and Privacy

  • Member information will be stored securely and used only for Alliance purposes, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
